Construction Method and Applications of Glycosyltransferase BS-YjiC Mutant - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240318153 titled 'Construction Method and Applications of Glycosyltransferase BS-YjiC Mutant
Simplified Explanation: The patent application relates to a glycosyltransferase bs-yjic mutant obtained through site-directed mutation, which is more effective in catalyzing protopanaxadiol to produce rare ginsenosides F12 and Rh2.
- The glycosyltransferase bs-yjic mutant is created by mutating specific amino acids in the wild-type glycosyltransferase bs-yjic.
- The mutant enzyme is better suited for converting protopanaxadiol into rare ginsenosides F12 and Rh2.
- This innovation enhances the flexibility of the production process for these valuable compounds.
Potential Applications: 1. Pharmaceutical industry for the production of rare ginsenosides. 2. Biotechnology companies for enzyme engineering applications. 3. Research institutions for studying glycosylation processes.
Problems Solved: 1. Enhancing the efficiency of converting protopanaxadiol to rare ginsenosides. 2. Improving the specificity of the glycosyltransferase enzyme. 3. Streamlining the production process of valuable compounds.
Benefits: 1. Increased yield of rare ginsenosides. 2. Enhanced enzymatic activity for specific glycosylation reactions. 3. Simplified and optimized production processes.

Original Abstract Submitted
a glycosyltransferase bs-yjic mutant, a construction method and an application thereof provided, relating to the field of genetic engineering technologies. the glycosyltransferase bs-yjic mutant is obtained by performing site-directed mutation on amino acids at the 125, 178, 313, 125and 178, or 125and 313positions of a wild-type glycosyltransferase bs-yjic with the amino acid sequence as shown in seq id no: 1. compared with the wild-type glycosyltransferase bs-yjic, the glycosyltransferase bs-yjic mutant is more suitable for catalyzing protopanaxadiol (ppd) to generate rare ginsenosides f12 and rh2, which is more conducive to the flexibility of the production process.
