SIDELINK RESPONSE TIME VALUE SELECTION - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240284407 titled 'SIDELINK RESPONSE TIME VALUE SELECTION

The abstract of this patent application describes a system where an anchor user equipment selects a sidelink response time value from a set of values and transmits a positioning reference signal to a target user equipment based on this selected value. The target user equipment receives the signal, identifies associated transmission parameters, and determines a sidelink response time value for position information.

  • Anchor user equipment selects a sidelink response time value from a set of values
  • Transmits a positioning reference signal to target user equipment based on the selected value
  • Target user equipment receives the signal and determines a sidelink response time value for position information
  • The system enables accurate positioning information exchange between user equipment
  • Utilizes transmission parameters to optimize signal transmission and reception

Potential Applications: - Location-based services - Asset tracking - Emergency response systems - Fleet management - Indoor navigation systems

Problems Solved: - Efficient and accurate exchange of positioning information - Optimization of signal transmission for improved location accuracy - Enhanced communication between user equipment for location-based services

Benefits: - Improved accuracy in determining user equipment location - Enhanced reliability of location-based services - Optimal use of transmission parameters for signal exchange - Increased efficiency in asset tracking and fleet management

Commercial Applications: Title: Enhanced Positioning System for Location-Based Services This technology can be applied in various commercial sectors such as logistics, transportation, emergency services, and navigation systems. Companies can utilize this system to improve the accuracy and efficiency of their location-based services, leading to better customer experiences and operational effectiveness.

Questions about Enhanced Positioning System for Location-Based Services:

1. How does this technology improve the accuracy of location-based services? This technology enhances accuracy by optimizing signal transmission based on selected response time values, ensuring precise positioning information exchange between user equipment.

2. What are the potential commercial uses of this enhanced positioning system? The commercial applications of this system include asset tracking, fleet management, emergency response systems, and indoor navigation services, offering improved location accuracy and operational efficiency for businesses.

Original Abstract Submitted

an anchor user equipment is configured to: select a sidelink response time value from a plurality of sidelink response time values configured for the user equipment and a target user equipment; and transmit a positioning reference signal to the target user equipment based at least partly on at least one positioning reference signal transmission parameter associated with the selected sidelink response time value. a target user equipment is configured to: receive a positioning reference signal transmitted by an anchor user equipment; identify at least one positioning reference signal transmission parameter associated with the received positioning reference signal; and determine, based on the at least one positioning reference signal transmission parameter, a sidelink response time value for transmission of the received positioning reference signal by the anchor user equipment, the sidelink response time value being for determining position information for the user equipment.
