IMAGING GUIDE DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240348757 titled 'IMAGING GUIDE DEVICE

The abstract describes an imaging guide device that computes a plane projection transformation matrix of a first image captured by a first imaging device and a second image captured by a second imaging device.

  • Computation means for calculating a transformation matrix between images captured by different devices.
  • Acquisition means for obtaining a second figure by transforming a first figure based on the transformation matrix.
  • Generation means for creating a tilt index representing the tilt between the imaging directions of the two devices and generating a display item with the tilt index.
  • Display control means for overlaying the display item on the second image.

Potential Applications: - Medical imaging for comparing images taken by different devices. - Augmented reality applications for aligning virtual objects with real-world surfaces.

Problems Solved: - Alignment issues when comparing images from different imaging devices. - Difficulty in accurately superimposing virtual objects onto real-world surfaces.

Benefits: - Improved accuracy in aligning and comparing images. - Enhanced visualization in augmented reality applications.

Commercial Applications: Title: "Multi-Device Imaging Alignment System for Medical and Augmented Reality Applications" This technology can be used in medical imaging systems, augmented reality devices, and industrial inspection tools.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the device handle differences in image resolution between the two imaging devices?

  - The device likely includes algorithms to adjust for resolution disparities during the transformation process.

2. Can this technology be integrated into existing imaging systems easily?

  - Integration may require some customization to adapt to specific devices, but it should be feasible with proper implementation.

Original Abstract Submitted

an imaging guide device includes a computation means for computing a plane projection transformation matrix of a first image obtained by capturing a flat surface of an object with a first imaging device and a second image obtained by capturing the flat surface with a second imaging device; an acquisition means for acquiring a second figure obtained by transforming a first figure on the basis of the plane projection transformation matrix, the first figure being virtually drawn on the first image in a predetermined direction and a predetermined shape; a generation means for generating a tilt index representing a tilt in an imaging direction of the second imaging device with respect to the first imaging device on the basis of the second figure, and generating a display item including the tilt index; and a display control means for displaying the display item in a superimposed manner on the second image.
