in order to enable a user to suitably set a search query, the present invention provides an image retrieval apparatus including: an item value acceptance unit accepting a user input specifying an item value of at least one item in a plurality of items included in a personal attribute; a selection unit selecting a plurality of standard images related to the specified item value from among a plurality of images stored in a storage unit a standard image acceptance unit outputting a plurality of the standard images and accepting a user input specifying one standard image from among the standard images; a generation unit generating a search query, based on a specification result of the standard image; and a retrieval unit performing image retrieval by using the search query.
