MEMORY DEVICE ACTIVE COMMAND TRACKING - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240192891 titled 'MEMORY DEVICE ACTIVE COMMAND TRACKING

Simplified Explanation

In some implementations, a memory device receives commands from a host device and tracks them using counters. When a specific event occurs, the memory device switches between different identifiers for the commands and updates the counters accordingly.

Key Features and Innovation

  • Memory device receives commands from host device
  • Maintains counters to track active commands
  • Switches between identifiers based on events
  • Updates counters based on command actions

Potential Applications

This technology could be used in various data storage systems, embedded systems, and IoT devices where efficient command tracking is essential.

Problems Solved

This technology addresses the need for effective management and tracking of commands in memory devices, improving overall system performance and reliability.

Benefits

  • Enhanced command tracking and management
  • Improved system performance and reliability
  • Efficient utilization of memory resources

Commercial Applications

  • Data storage systems
  • Embedded systems
  • Internet of Things (IoT) devices

Original Abstract Submitted

in some implementations, a memory device may obtain, from a host device, a first one or more commands associated with a first identifier. the memory device may maintain a first counter associated with tracking active commands from the host device. the memory device may detect an event, associated with a command, at a first time. the memory device may switch, based on detecting the event, an active identifier for commands obtained after the first time to a second identifier. the memory device may initiate a second counter associated with tracking active commands that were obtained prior to the first time. the memory device may perform an action associated with a command that is associated with the first identifier. the memory device may update, based on performing the action, the first counter and the second counter based on the at least one command being associated with the first identifier.
