Artificial Reality Entry Spaces for Virtual Reality Experiences - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240248528 titled 'Artificial Reality Entry Spaces for Virtual Reality Experiences

The present disclosure involves providing portals to virtual reality (VR) experiences from within an artificial reality (XR) entry space, such as mixed reality (MR) or augmented reality (AR). Users can move between pre-established physical spaces mapped to activities and tagged content. Content can be tagged to real-world locations based on user input or system suggestions. When a user interacts with tagged content in AR or MR, it can launch a corresponding VR experience, such as virtual objects overlaid on the user's real-world environment or virtual portals to VR co-working experiences.

  • Users can move between physical spaces mapped to activities and tagged content
  • Content can be tagged to real-world locations based on user input or system suggestions
  • Interacting with tagged content in AR or MR can launch corresponding VR experiences
  • Virtual objects can be overlaid on the user's real-world environment
  • Virtual portals can automatically appear for VR co-working experiences

Potential Applications: - Enhanced virtual reality experiences - Interactive augmented reality applications - Seamless transition between different reality environments

Problems Solved: - Bridging the gap between physical and virtual spaces - Providing a more immersive and interactive user experience - Simplifying the process of launching VR experiences from AR or MR interactions

Benefits: - Enhanced user engagement - Increased productivity in virtual collaboration - Seamless integration of different reality technologies

Commercial Applications: Title: "Enhancing Virtual Collaboration with Seamless Reality Transitions" This technology could be used in industries such as architecture, design, gaming, and remote collaboration tools to enhance virtual experiences and streamline transitions between different reality environments.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does this technology improve user engagement in virtual reality experiences? 2. What are the potential implications of seamlessly transitioning between different reality environments for commercial applications?

Original Abstract Submitted

aspects of the present disclosure can provide portals to virtual reality (vr) experiences from within an artificial reality (xr) entry space, such as mixed reality (mr) or augmented reality (ar). some implementations can allow a user to move between pre-established physical spaces that are mapped to certain activities and tagged content. some implementations can tag the content to a particular real-world location based on user input, a system suggestion, or the system simply picking up where the user left off in an ar or mr experience in that location. in some implementations, the content can launch a corresponding vr experience. for example, a virtual object can appear overlaid on a user's real-world room. by grabbing the virtual object, some implementations can automatically launch a vr experience. in another example, some implementations can automatically display a virtual portal to a vr co-working experience when the user sits at her desk.
