IIMAGE CODING METHOD AND DEVICE THEREFOR - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240314322 titled 'IIMAGE CODING METHOD AND DEVICE THEREFOR

The image decoding method described in the patent application involves deriving corrected transform coefficients using a secondary inverse transformation, and then deriving residual samples for a target block using a primary inverse transformation based on the corrected transform coefficients. The corrected transform coefficients are arranged in an output area on the upper-left end of the target block.

  • Deriving corrected transform coefficients using a secondary inverse transformation
  • Deriving residual samples for a target block using a primary inverse transformation
  • Arranging corrected transform coefficients in an output area on the upper-left end of the target block

Original Abstract Submitted

an image decoding method according to the present document comprises the steps of: deriving corrected transform coefficients on the basis of secondary inverse transformation with respect to transform coefficients; and deriving residual samples for a target block on the basis of primary inverse transformation with respect to the corrected transform coefficients, wherein, on the basis of which the size of the target block is mn (m≥16, n≥16), l (48<l≤96) corrected transform coefficients may be arrayed in an output area on the upper-left end of the target block.
