METHOD AND DEVICE FOR REPORTING BUFFER STATE IN WIRELESS LAN SYSTEM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240284250 titled 'METHOD AND DEVICE FOR REPORTING BUFFER STATE IN WIRELESS LAN SYSTEM

Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes a method and device for reporting buffer state information for latency-sensitive traffic in a wireless LAN system. It involves transmitting different types of queue size information to an access point, distinguishing between first-type traffic and second-type traffic, where the second-type traffic may be latency-sensitive.

Key Features and Innovation:

  • Method for reporting buffer state for latency-sensitive traffic in a wireless LAN system
  • Transmission of queue size information for different types of traffic to an access point
  • Distinguishing between first-type traffic and second-type traffic, with the latter potentially being latency-sensitive

Potential Applications: This technology can be applied in various wireless LAN systems to improve the management of latency-sensitive traffic, ensuring better quality of service for applications that require low latency, such as real-time communication or video streaming.

Problems Solved: This technology addresses the challenge of efficiently managing and prioritizing latency-sensitive traffic in wireless LAN systems, ensuring that such traffic receives the necessary resources and bandwidth to maintain low latency.

Benefits:

  • Enhanced quality of service for latency-sensitive applications
  • Improved network performance and efficiency
  • Better overall user experience for real-time communication and multimedia streaming

Commercial Applications: The technology can be utilized in industries such as telecommunication, entertainment, and gaming to optimize network performance for latency-sensitive applications, potentially leading to increased customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Prior Art: Readers interested in exploring prior art related to this technology can start by researching patents and publications in the field of wireless communication protocols and quality of service management in LAN systems.

Frequently Updated Research: Researchers in the field of wireless communication and network optimization may be conducting studies on improving latency-sensitive traffic management in LAN systems, which could provide valuable insights for further development of this technology.

Questions about Latency-Sensitive Traffic Management: 1. How does this technology improve the handling of latency-sensitive traffic in wireless LAN systems? 2. What are the potential implications of prioritizing latency-sensitive traffic in network management?

Original Abstract Submitted

disclosed are a method and device for reporting a buffer state for latency-sensitive traffic in a wireless lan system. a method for a station (sta) to transmit a buffer state report (bsr) in a wireless lan system according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises the steps of: transmitting, to an access point (ap), a frame including a first bsr control subfield including first queue size information about first-type traffic and second-type traffic; and transmitting, to the ap, a frame including a second bsr control subfield including second queue size information about the second-type traffic, wherein the second-type traffic may correspond to latency-sensitive traffic, and the first-type traffic may correspond to traffic other than the second-type traffic.
