LAUNDRY TREATMENT APPARATUS AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING THE SAME - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240183099 titled 'LAUNDRY TREATMENT APPARATUS AND METHOD OF CONTROLLING THE SAME

The abstract describes a laundry treatment apparatus that directly heats a drum containing laundry through induction heating. The apparatus includes a cabinet, a tub, a metallic drum, and an induction module.

  • The laundry treatment apparatus heats the drum through an induction module generating a magnetic field.
  • The drum rotates within the tub to effectively treat the laundry.
  • The outer surface of the tub has mounting portions for the induction module, with some portions closer to the drum's rotational axis.
  • The induction heating method provides efficient and uniform heating to the laundry inside the drum.

Potential Applications: - This technology can be used in commercial laundry facilities to improve efficiency and reduce energy consumption. - It can also be applied in residential washing machines to enhance the performance of laundry treatment.

Problems Solved: - Provides a more efficient and effective way to heat the drum and treat laundry. - Reduces energy consumption compared to traditional heating methods.

Benefits: - Improved heating efficiency for laundry treatment. - Energy savings and reduced operating costs for laundry facilities. - Enhanced performance and effectiveness in treating laundry.

Commercial Applications: - Commercial laundry facilities, residential washing machines, appliance manufacturers.

Questions about Laundry Treatment Apparatus: 1. How does the induction heating method improve the efficiency of laundry treatment? 2. What are the potential cost savings associated with using this technology in laundry facilities?

Question 1: How does the induction heating method improve the efficiency of laundry treatment? Answer 1: The induction heating method generates a magnetic field that directly heats the drum containing laundry, providing efficient and uniform heating throughout the load.

Question 2: What are the potential cost savings associated with using this technology in laundry facilities? Answer 2: By reducing energy consumption and improving heating efficiency, this technology can lead to significant cost savings for commercial laundry facilities in the long run.

Original Abstract Submitted

a laundry treatment apparatus is configured to directly heat a drum containing laundry therein. the laundry treatment apparatus includes: a cabinet forming an external appearance of the laundry treatment apparatus; a tub provided in the cabinet; a drum configured to rotate within the tub and to contain laundry therein, the drum being formed of a metallic material; an induction module provided at an outer surface of the tub and configured to heat the drum within the tub via induction by generating a magnetic field; and wherein the outer surface of the tub comprises at least one mounting portion that is configured to mount the induction module, with at least part of the at least one mounting portion being arranged radially closer to a rotational axis of the drum than a remaining portion of the outer surface of the tub.
