a display device and a method for driving the same are capable of driving a light-emitting element while a decrease in external quantum efficiency (eqe) is suppressed even when the light-emitting element is used in a small display device. to this end, the display device and the method for driving the same are discussed in which when the light-emitting element used in a small display device, the light-emitting element operates in a low luminance operation mode and a high luminance operation mode. in the low luminance operation mode, a data voltage is fixed and a pulse width is varied to set the luminance, and in the high luminance operation mode, the pulse width is fixed and the data voltage is varied to set the luminance.
