BREATHING PATTERN EXTRACTION - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240315673 titled 'BREATHING PATTERN EXTRACTION
The patent application describes a system, method, and computer-readable medium for extracting breathing pattern data from ultrasound images to assist in clinical patient management by detecting trigger events and identifying breathing patterns in ultrasound video streams.
- Extraction of breathing pattern data from ultrasound images
- Detection of trigger events from audio-based or image-based triggers in ultrasound video streams
- Identification of breathing patterns in response to trigger events
- Extraction of breathing-related parameters
- Generation of records with breathing-related parameters
Potential Applications: - Medical monitoring and diagnosis - Respiratory therapy and treatment optimization - Research in respiratory health and conditions
Problems Solved: - Improved monitoring of breathing patterns - Enhanced detection of trigger events - Facilitation of clinical decision-making
Benefits: - Early detection of breathing pattern abnormalities - Personalized treatment based on extracted parameters - Enhanced patient outcomes and quality of care
Commercial Applications: Title: "Ultrasound-Based Breathing Pattern Extraction System for Clinical Patient Management" This technology can be utilized in healthcare facilities, research institutions, and medical device companies to improve patient care, optimize treatment strategies, and advance respiratory health research.
Questions about Ultrasound-Based Breathing Pattern Extraction System for Clinical Patient Management:
1. How does this technology improve patient monitoring and diagnosis?
- This technology enhances patient monitoring by extracting breathing pattern data from ultrasound images, allowing for early detection of abnormalities and personalized treatment.
2. What are the potential applications of this system beyond clinical patient management?
- This system can also be used in research settings to study respiratory health and conditions, as well as in respiratory therapy to optimize treatment strategies.
Original Abstract Submitted
a system, method, and computer-readable medium are disclosed for extracting breathing pattern data from ultrasound images for aiding downstream clinical patient management, including detecting a trigger event indicative of a breathing pattern from at least one of an audio-based trigger and an image-based trigger from an ultrasound video stream. the presently disclosed technique may further include identifying a breathing pattern in the ultrasound video stream responsive to detection of the trigger event. the presently disclosed technique may also include extraction of at least one breathing-related parameter and the generation of a record with the at least one breathing-related parameter.
