SUMMARIZING COLLABORATIVE DATA BASED ON DETERMINED USER INTEREST AND STATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240160850 titled 'SUMMARIZING COLLABORATIVE DATA BASED ON DETERMINED USER INTEREST AND STATUS

Simplified Explanation

The abstract describes a method for automatically generating a communication summary based on communications received on electronic communication systems. The method involves determining if new communications relate to stored topics of interest, extracting content from these communications, associating the content with related topics of interest, and generating a communication summary.

  • Automatically determines if new communications relate to stored topics of interest
  • Extracts content from new communications and associates it with related topics of interest
  • Generates and displays a communication summary based on the extracted content
  • Presents and labels the new communications with the related topics of interest

Potential Applications

This technology could be applied in email management systems, social media platforms, and messaging apps to help users quickly understand and prioritize their communications.

Problems Solved

This technology solves the problem of information overload by automatically summarizing and categorizing communications based on the user's interests.

Benefits

- Saves time by providing a concise summary of communications - Helps users stay organized and focused on relevant information - Improves productivity by streamlining communication management

Potential Commercial Applications

"Automated Communication Summary Generation Technology in Electronic Systems"

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art could be email filtering systems that categorize emails based on predefined rules and keywords.

What are the potential security implications of automatically extracting and categorizing content from communications?

Automatic extraction and categorization of content from communications could raise privacy concerns if sensitive information is mishandled or accessed by unauthorized parties. Implementing robust encryption and access control measures would be essential to mitigate these security risks.

How can this technology be further enhanced to provide more personalized communication summaries?

This technology could be enhanced by incorporating machine learning algorithms to analyze user preferences and behavior patterns, allowing for more personalized and accurate communication summaries. Additionally, integrating natural language processing capabilities could improve the system's ability to understand and summarize complex messages.

Original Abstract Submitted

a method for automatically and electronically generating a communication summary based on communications received on electronic communication systems is provided. the method may include, automatically determining whether new and different communications received on an electronic communication system relates to stored topics of interest to the user. the method may further include, in response to determining that the received new and different communications relate to the stored topics of interest, automatically extracting content from the new and different communications, and associating and storing the extracted content associated with at least one new communication with at least one related topic of interest from the stored topics of interest. the method may further include automatically generating and displaying the communication summary comprising the extracted content from the received new and different communications and presenting and labeling the new and different communications with the at least one related topic of interest.
