DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING POWER SUPPLY IN A VIDEO RECORDINGG DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240198935 titled 'DEVICE AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING POWER SUPPLY IN A VIDEO RECORDINGG DEVICE

The apparatus described in the abstract includes a battery unit with a main battery for powering a vehicle and a starting battery for the video recording device. It also features a smart battery sensor that monitors the starting battery's state of charge (SOC) while the vehicle is parked and requests to charge it when the SOC drops below a certain level. The power distribution device transmits battery information to the video recording device and controls charging of the starting battery when the vehicle is off. The video recording device calculates recording time based on the starting battery's SOC, sets a recording timer, and records the vehicle's surroundings using power from the starting battery while parked.

  • Battery unit with main and starting batteries
  • Smart battery sensor monitoring SOC of starting battery while parked
  • Power distribution device controlling charging of starting battery when vehicle is off
  • Video recording device calculating recording time based on starting battery's SOC
  • Recording surroundings using power from starting battery while parked

Potential Applications: - Vehicle surveillance systems - Security cameras for parked vehicles - Fleet management solutions
