this application discloses a route advertisement method and a related device. to reduce ip address resources and reduce configuration and maintenance costs of a network device, it is not required that all network devices in a network enable an ipv4/ipv6 dual-stack function, and the network device in the network may enable only an ipv4 or ipv6 single-stack function to bear ipv4 and ipv6 services. a route advertisement packet advertised by the network device and used to advertise an ipv4 route can include routing information corresponding to an ipv6 address, or a route advertisement packet used to advertise an ipv6 route can include routing information corresponding to an ipv4 address.
