a vehicle door unlocking system considering convenience and safety of door unlocking is disclosed. the vehicle door unlocking system utilizes a communication terminal capable of communicating wirelessly with a vehicle to unlock a vehicle door, and includes: a receiving portion receiving an unlocking command issued by an operation of a user; and a recognition portion recognizing a position of the user relative to the vehicle. when the receiving portion receives an unlocking command issued from a position more than a first distance away from the vehicle by a first operation of the user, or when the receiving portion receives an unlocking command issued by a second operation of the user, a standby mode is shifted to. when the recognition portion in the standby mode recognizes that the user enters a position within a second distance that is less than the first distance from the vehicle, the vehicle door is unlocked.
