CONTROL DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240319362 titled 'CONTROL DEVICE
The control device on a vehicle is designed to detect the ends of a target object in a left-right direction and determine the positional relationship between the vehicle and the object.
- Detect one end and the other end in a left-right direction of the vehicle based on imaging device output.
- Derive angles and distances between the vehicle and the ends of the target object.
- Determine the positional relationship between the vehicle and the target object based on the derived angles and distances.
Potential Applications: - Advanced driver assistance systems - Autonomous vehicles - Collision avoidance systems
Problems Solved: - Enhancing vehicle safety - Improving object detection capabilities - Enhancing spatial awareness for vehicles
Benefits: - Increased safety on the road - Enhanced accuracy in object detection - Improved decision-making for vehicle control
Commercial Applications: Title: Advanced Object Detection System for Vehicles This technology can be utilized by automotive manufacturers to enhance the safety features of their vehicles, making them more attractive to consumers concerned about road safety. It can also be integrated into autonomous vehicles to improve their object detection capabilities, paving the way for safer and more efficient transportation systems.

Original Abstract Submitted
a control device on a vehicle includes is configured to: detect, based on an output from an imaging device, one end and the other end in a left-right direction of the vehicle, in a first end of a detection target object, the first end being on a side close to the vehicle in a front-rear direction of the vehicle, derive, based on the one end and the other end, a first angle between a direction connecting the vehicle and the one end and the front-rear direction and a second angle between a direction connecting the vehicle and the other end and the front-rear direction, derive a first distance between the first end of the detection target object and the vehicle based on radar information, and determine a positional relationship between the vehicle and the detection target object based on the first angle, the second angle, and the first distance.
