INFORMATION HANDLING SYSTEM CIRCUIT BOARD RETENTION WITH BI-STABLE FLEXTURE PLATE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240201757 titled 'INFORMATION HANDLING SYSTEM CIRCUIT BOARD RETENTION WITH BI-STABLE FLEXTURE PLATE

The abstract describes a portable information handling system that can be assembled and disassembled using a keystone assembly that overlaps a keyboard assembly covering processing components in the housing. The motherboard is connected to the housing with a bi-stable plate that can be held in engaged or released positions by flexible members, allowing for movement relative to the motherboard.

  • Keystone assembly for assembling and disassembling the portable information handling system
  • Bi-stable plate on the motherboard for flexible movement and connection to the housing
  • Flexible members holding the bi-stable plate in engaged or released positions
  • Notch engagement mechanism for aligning with sliding axes
  • Notches in both positions for stability and alignment

Original Abstract Submitted

a portable information handling system is assembled and disassembled by a keystone assembly that couples at an upper surface of the portable housing to overlap a keyboard assembly that covers processing components disposed in the portable housing. a motherboard couples to the portable housing with a bi-stable plate having first and second portions selectively held in an engaged position and a released position by plural flexible members that flex between a first position stable one side of orthogonal to an inner portion relative to an outer portion and a second position stable on an opposite side of orthogonal. a member extending from the bi-stable plate moves relative to the motherboard to engage a notch that can be aligned with an axis of the sliding, orthogonal to the axis of the sliding or plural notches in both positions.
