METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR NEURAL STIMULATION VIA VISUAL, AUDITORY AND PERIPHERAL NERVE STIMULATIONS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240269481 titled 'METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR NEURAL STIMULATION VIA VISUAL, AUDITORY AND PERIPHERAL NERVE STIMULATIONS

The patent application is focused on systems and methods for treating cognitive dysfunction in individuals. The system includes a light source and a speaker to provide visual and auditory stimulation to the subject.

  • Visual neural stimulation system delivers visual stimulation with varying parameters.
  • Auditory neural stimulation system delivers audio stimulation with different parameters.
  • Stimuli orchestration component selects and varies visual or audio stimulation based on a policy.
  • The system aims to improve cognitive function in individuals in need of treatment.

Potential Applications: - Treatment of cognitive dysfunction in patients with neurological disorders. - Cognitive enhancement in healthy individuals seeking to improve mental acuity.

Problems Solved: - Addressing cognitive dysfunction through innovative neural stimulation techniques. - Providing a non-invasive and potentially effective treatment option for cognitive impairments.

Benefits: - Improved cognitive function and mental acuity. - Non-invasive treatment option for cognitive dysfunction. - Potential for personalized treatment based on individual responses to stimulation.

Commercial Applications: Title: Cognitive Enhancement System for Neurological Disorders This technology could be utilized in medical facilities, research institutions, and cognitive enhancement centers to offer innovative treatment options for cognitive dysfunction.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the system determine the appropriate parameters for visual and auditory stimulation? 2. What research supports the effectiveness of neural stimulation in treating cognitive dysfunction?

Original Abstract Submitted

systems and methods of the present disclosure are directed to systems and methods for treating cognitive dysfunction in a subject in need thereof. the system can include a light source and a speaker. a visual neural stimulation system provides, via the light source, visual stimulation having a first value of a first parameter. an auditory neural stimulation system provides, via the speaker, audio stimulation having a second value of the second parameter. a stimuli orchestration component selects, for a first time interval, one of the visual stimulation or the audio stimulation to vary based on a policy, selects, for the first time interval, the other of the visual stimulation or the audio stimulation to keep constant based on the policy, and provides causes the one of the visual neural stimulation system or the auditory neural stimulation system to vary the one of the visual stimulation or the audio stimulation.
