an electronic instrument includes a casing, at least one performance element on the casing, a sound emitting unit inside the casing, and a cover unit configured to be accommodated between the performance element and the sound emitting unit inside the casing by being pushed into and pulled out of the casing and to cover the performance element with the cover unit pulled out of the casing, and an interior of the casing is divided by the cover unit into a first space where the performance element is disposed and a second space where the sound emitting unit is disposed with the cover unit accommodated inside the casing, and a recess is provided on a plate surface lying near the cover unit inside the casing in such a manner as to straddle the first space and the second space.
