IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS AND FIXING DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240345515 titled 'IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS AND FIXING DEVICE

Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes an image forming apparatus with a fixing device that includes a heating unit, pressure rotating member, temperature detection unit, storage unit, reading unit, sheet feeding unit, conveyance unit, and control unit. The pressure rotating member forms a nip portion with the heating unit, and the control unit manages the temperature and conveyance of the recording material based on stored information regarding the fixing device's temperature rise rate.

  • The fixing device in the image forming apparatus includes a heating unit and pressure rotating member.
  • A temperature detection unit and storage unit store information on the fixing device's temperature rise rate.
  • The control unit manages the temperature and conveyance of the recording material based on the stored information.
  • The pressure rotating member forms a nip portion with the heating unit for fixing the toner image onto the recording material.
  • The control unit controls the conveyance unit to start conveying the recording material when a predetermined temperature lower than the target temperature is reached.

Potential Applications: This technology can be applied in various printing and copying machines to ensure efficient and accurate fixing of toner images onto recording materials.

Problems Solved: This technology addresses the challenge of maintaining a consistent temperature for fixing toner images onto recording materials, ensuring high-quality output.

Benefits: The benefits of this technology include improved image quality, increased efficiency in printing processes, and reduced maintenance requirements for image forming apparatus.

Commercial Applications: Commercial applications of this technology include photocopiers, laser printers, and multifunctional devices used in offices, schools, and printing shops.

Prior Art: Prior art related to this technology may include patents or research papers on fixing devices in image forming apparatus and temperature control mechanisms in printing machines.

Frequently Updated Research: Researchers may be conducting studies on enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of fixing devices in image forming apparatus, as well as exploring new materials for recording surfaces.

Questions about Image Forming Apparatus: 1. How does the control unit manage the temperature and conveyance of the recording material in the fixing device? 2. What are the potential implications of this technology for the printing industry?

Original Abstract Submitted

an image forming apparatus includes a fixing device to fix a toner image onto a recording material. the fixing device includes a heating unit, a pressure rotating member, a temperature detection unit, a storage unit, a reading unit, a sheet feeding unit, a conveyance unit, and a control unit. the pressure rotating member abuts the heating unit to form a nip portion. the storage unit stores information regarding a temperature rise rate of the fixing device. when the recording material is conveyed to the nip portion, the control unit controls the heating unit at a target temperature. where a predetermined temperature lower than the target temperature is reached, the control unit controls the conveyance unit to start conveying the recording material from the sheet feeding unit to the nip portion. the control unit further determines the predetermined temperature based on the information read by the reading unit.
