IMAGING DEVICE AND EQUIPMENT - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240312210 titled 'IMAGING DEVICE AND EQUIPMENT

The imaging device described in the patent application includes a pixel portion with multiple unit pixels that can detect changes in light intensity, an event readout portion to read out these changes, an output portion to provide motion information related to the event signal, and a determination portion to predict future regions based on this motion information.

  • The device can detect changes in light intensity in each unit pixel.
  • It can read out these changes from the pixel portion.
  • The output portion provides motion information related to the event signal.
  • The determination portion predicts future regions based on this motion information.
  • The event readout portion can read out event signals from specific unit pixels within the predicted region.

Potential Applications: - Surveillance systems - Autonomous vehicles - Robotics - Augmented reality devices

Problems Solved: - Efficiently detecting and predicting changes in light intensity - Providing accurate motion information for specific regions - Enhancing overall imaging capabilities

Benefits: - Improved accuracy in detecting events - Enhanced predictive capabilities - Increased efficiency in processing motion information

Commercial Applications: Title: Advanced Imaging Device for Enhanced Event Detection and Prediction This technology can be utilized in various industries such as surveillance, automotive, robotics, and augmented reality for improved event detection and prediction capabilities, leading to enhanced performance and efficiency in these applications.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the imaging device predict future regions based on motion information? The determination portion of the device analyzes the motion information to predict future regions where changes in light intensity may occur.

2. What are the potential commercial uses of this advanced imaging technology? This technology can be applied in surveillance systems, autonomous vehicles, robotics, and augmented reality devices to enhance event detection and prediction capabilities, improving overall performance in these industries.

Original Abstract Submitted

an imaging device includes a pixel portion that includes a plurality of unit pixels and is configured to detect as an event signal a change in a light intensity of each of the unit pixels, an event readout portion configured to read out the event signal from the pixel portion, an output portion configured to output, regarding at least one region relating to the event signal of the pixel portion, motion information relating to motion of the at least one region, and a determination portion configured to determine a predicted region after a change in the at least one region, the predicted region being predicted based on the motion information. the event readout portion is configured to read out the event signal from a unit pixel included in the determined predicted region.
