IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240310774 titled 'IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes an image forming apparatus with a unique brush design to improve image quality and efficiency.

  • The apparatus includes a rotatable image bearing member, a developing unit, a transfer unit, and a brush with fibers.
  • The brush contacts the image bearing member downstream of the transfer portion and upstream of the developing portion.
  • The average contacting pressure of the brush fibers is lower than the depositing force of the developer.
  • The brush has a high density of fibers when viewed from the free end side.

Key Features and Innovation:

  • Unique brush design for improved image quality.
  • Optimal contact pressure for efficient developer transfer.
  • High fiber density for effective cleaning and maintenance.

Potential Applications:

  • Printers and copiers.
  • Graphic design and photography equipment.
  • Industrial printing and labeling machines.

Problems Solved:

  • Poor image quality due to inadequate developer transfer.
  • Maintenance issues with traditional brush designs.
  • Inefficient cleaning processes in image forming devices.

Benefits:

  • Enhanced image quality and clarity.
  • Improved efficiency in developer transfer.
  • Reduced maintenance and cleaning requirements.

Commercial Applications: The patented brush design can be utilized in various image forming devices to enhance performance and image quality, leading to increased customer satisfaction and market competitiveness.

Questions about Image Forming Apparatus: 1. How does the brush design improve image quality in the apparatus? 2. What are the potential cost-saving benefits of using this patented technology in image forming devices?

Frequently Updated Research: Ongoing research may focus on further optimizing the brush design for even better performance and efficiency in image forming apparatus.

Original Abstract Submitted

an image forming apparatus includes a rotatable image bearing member, a developing unit to develop an electrostatic latent image at a developing portion, a transfer unit to transfer a developer image to a recording member at a transfer portion; and a brush provided with a plurality of fibers contacting the image bearing member at downstream of the transfer portion and upstream of the developing portion in a rotational direction of the image bearing member. an average contacting pressure of the brush per one fiber to the image bearing member is smaller than a depositing force of the developer not transferred to the recording member to the image bearing member. as the brush in a state of not in contact with the image bearing member is viewed from a free end side of the fibers, an average number of the fibers included in a circumference of a diameter of 100 m is more than one.
