LENS APPARATUS AND IMAGING APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240280782 titled 'LENS APPARATUS AND IMAGING APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes a lens apparatus that includes a holding frame for a lens, a driving unit to move the frame along an optical axis, and a mount to attach the apparatus to a camera. The driving unit and part of the lens are positioned in a way that allows for a non-circular lens shape, with the lens overlapping the mount or being closer to the image plane than the mount's end surface.

  • The lens apparatus includes a holding frame, driving unit, and mount.
  • The driving unit moves the frame along the optical axis.
  • The lens shape can be non-circular.
  • Part of the lens overlaps the mount or is closer to the image plane than the mount's end surface.
  • The design allows for flexibility in lens shape and positioning.

Potential Applications: 1. Photography equipment 2. Optical devices 3. Imaging systems

Problems Solved: 1. Allowing for non-circular lens shapes 2. Providing flexibility in lens positioning 3. Enhancing optical performance

Benefits: 1. Improved image quality 2. Versatile lens design 3. Enhanced functionality in imaging systems

Commercial Applications: The lens apparatus could be used in various commercial applications such as professional photography equipment, surveillance systems, and medical imaging devices.

Prior Art: Prior art related to this technology may include patents or research on lens design and optical systems.

Frequently Updated Research: Stay updated on advancements in lens technology, optical design, and imaging systems for potential improvements in the lens apparatus.

Questions about Lens Apparatus: 1. How does the non-circular lens shape impact image quality? 2. What are the potential limitations of the lens apparatus in different imaging scenarios?

Original Abstract Submitted

a lens apparatus includes a holding frame configured to hold a first lens, a driving unit configured to drive the holding frame in a direction along an optical axis, and a mount configured to mount the lens apparatus on an imaging apparatus. when the lens apparatus is viewed from the direction along the optical axis, at least a part of the driving unit is disposed inside a circumscribed circle of the first lens having a non-circular shape. a part of the first lens is disposed at a location that overlaps an object-side end surface of the mount or is disposed closer to an image plane than the object-side end surface of the mount in the direction along the optical axis.
