TONER - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240264543 titled 'TONER

The present invention relates to a toner that exhibits excellent charge rising properties and contamination resistance of a charging roller, while also ensuring high density uniformity of solid images and halftone images, even after prolonged use in low-temperature and low-humidity environments.

  • Toner composition includes a binder resin and strontium titanate particles.
  • Toner particles exhibit fragment peaks from boron atoms and boron-oxygen structures in TOF-SIMS measurements.
  • Fatty acids are present on the surface of the strontium titanate particles.
    • Potential Applications:**

This technology can be used in laser printers, photocopiers, and other imaging devices that require high-quality toner for image output.

    • Problems Solved:**

The toner addresses issues related to charge rising properties, contamination resistance, and image uniformity in challenging environmental conditions.

    • Benefits:**

- Improved image quality and uniformity - Enhanced durability in low-temperature and low-humidity settings - Reduced contamination of charging rollers

    • Commercial Applications:**

This toner technology can benefit manufacturers of printing equipment by providing a reliable solution for consistent image quality in various operating conditions.

    • Questions about Toner Technology:**

1. How does the presence of fatty acids on the strontium titanate particles contribute to the performance of the toner? 2. What specific advantages does the detection of boron-related fragment peaks in toner particles offer in terms of image output quality?

Original Abstract Submitted

an object of the present invention is to provide a toner that is satisfactory in a charge rising property of the toner and contamination resistance of a charging roller, and can output an image having high density uniformity of a solid image and also having high uniformity of a halftone image, even when having been subjected to the long-term durable use in a low-temperature and low-humidity environment. a toner comprises: a toner particle comprising a binder resin; and a strontium titanate particle, wherein in tof-sims measurement of the toner particle, a fragment peak derived from a boron atom and a fragment peak derived from a boron-oxygen structure are detected, and a fatty acid exists on a surface of the strontium titanate particle.
