TONER - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240241460 titled 'TONER

Simplified Explanation: The patent application describes a toner where a pigment is dispersed in toner particles containing a high amount of crystalline resin, resulting in excellent low-temperature fixability and coloring power.

  • The toner includes toner particles with a binder resin, pigment, and pigment dispersant.
  • The binder resin contains 20.0% to 100.0% of a crystalline resin.
  • The pigment dispersant is a polymer with specific structures interacting with the pigment and monomer units interacting with the crystalline resin.

Key Features and Innovation:

  • Toner with high crystalline resin content for improved fixability and coloring power.
  • Use of a specific polymer pigment dispersant for effective dispersion.
  • Interaction between the dispersant and resin for enhanced performance.

Potential Applications: The technology can be used in the production of toner cartridges for printers and copiers.

Problems Solved:

  • Improved fixability at low temperatures.
  • Enhanced coloring power for vibrant prints.

Benefits:

  • High-quality prints with vivid colors.
  • Reliable performance in various printing conditions.

Commercial Applications: Potential commercial applications include the manufacturing of toner cartridges for the printing industry, catering to businesses and consumers in need of high-quality printing solutions.

Questions about Toner Technology: 1. How does the high crystalline resin content in the toner particles contribute to low-temperature fixability? 2. What specific interactions between the pigment dispersant and crystalline resin enhance the coloring power of the toner?

Original Abstract Submitted

provided is such a toner that a pigment is dispersed in a toner particle containing a large amount of a crystalline resin, that is, a toner excellent in low-temperature fixability and coloring power, wherein the toner is a toner including a toner particle containing a binder resin, a pigment and a pigment dispersant, wherein the binder resin contains 20.0% by mass or more and 100.0% by mass or less of a crystalline resin, wherein the pigment dispersant is a polymer containing a specific structure that interacts with the pigment and a specific monomer unit that interacts with the crystalline resin.
