IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240210873 titled 'IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation: The image forming apparatus described in the patent application includes a developer container with a replenishment port for adding developer from a separate container. The developer image is transferred onto a recording material by a transfer portion, which is then discharged onto a supporting tray. The supporting tray has an opening that exposes the replenishment port, with a movable opening/closing member that covers or exposes the port.

  • The apparatus includes a developer container with a replenishment port for adding developer.
  • A transfer portion transfers the developer image onto a recording material.
  • A supporting tray supports the recording material.
  • A discharge portion discharges the recording material on the supporting surface.
  • The supporting tray has an opening that exposes the replenishment port.
  • An opening/closing member covers or exposes the replenishment port.

Potential Applications: This technology can be used in various printing and copying machines where developer needs to be replenished regularly. It can also be applied in industries that require precise image transfer onto recording materials.

Problems Solved: This technology solves the problem of efficiently replenishing developer in image forming apparatus while ensuring a smooth transfer of the developer image onto recording materials.

Benefits: The benefits of this technology include improved efficiency in image forming processes, reduced downtime for replenishing developer, and enhanced quality of transferred images.

Commercial Applications: The technology can be utilized in commercial printing machines, photocopiers, and other image forming devices to streamline the developer replenishment process and improve overall performance.

Prior Art: Prior art related to this technology may include patents or publications on developer replenishment systems in image forming apparatus.

Frequently Updated Research: Researchers may be conducting studies on optimizing developer replenishment processes in image forming devices to enhance productivity and image quality.

Questions about Image Forming Apparatus: 1. How does the opening/closing member function in covering or exposing the replenishment port? 2. What are the potential challenges in integrating this technology into existing image forming devices?

Original Abstract Submitted

an image forming apparatus includes a developer container having an accommodating portion to accommodate developer, and a replenishment port for replenishing the accommodating portion with developer from an attachable replenishment container. a transfer portion transfers the developer image on an image bearing member onto a recording material, a supporting tray supports the recording material, and a discharge portion discharges the recording material on the supporting surface. the supporting tray has an opening portion opening with the replenishment port being exposed through the supporting surface, wherein an opening/closing member is movable between a closed position where it covers the replenishment port and serves as a part of the supporting surface and an open position where the replenishment port is exposed. movement of the opening/closing member to the closed position is hindered by the replenishment container in a state it is attached to the developer container.
