IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240210858 titled 'IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

The image forming apparatus described in the abstract includes a heater with first and second heating members, where the first heating member is wider than the second heating member. The apparatus is used to form images on different recording materials of varying lengths.

  • The first recording material is shorter than the second heating member, while the second recording material is shorter than the first heating member but longer than the second heating member.
  • When both recording materials are the first type, a specific electric power is supplied to the first heating member as the material passes through a nip.
  • When the first material is the first recording material and the second material is the second recording material, a different, smaller electric power is supplied to the first heating member as the first material passes through the nip.

Potential Applications: - Printing industry for efficient image formation on different types of recording materials. - Manufacturing sector for precise heating processes in various applications.

Problems Solved: - Efficient heating and image formation on materials of different lengths. - Energy optimization based on the type of recording material being used.

Benefits: - Improved image quality on various recording materials. - Energy efficiency in the heating process.

Commercial Applications: Title: Advanced Image Forming Apparatus for Diverse Material Printing This technology can be utilized in commercial printing services, manufacturing industries, and any sector requiring precise image formation on different types of materials.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the apparatus adjust the electric power based on the type of recording material? 2. What are the potential cost-saving benefits for businesses using this image forming apparatus?

Original Abstract Submitted

an image forming apparatus includes a heater including first and second heating members, the first heating member is longer than the second heating member in a widthwise direction. the image forming apparatus performs image formation on a first recording material shorter than the second heating member and a second recording material shorter than the first heating member and longer than the second heating member. in a case that first and second sheet are the first recording material, an electric power supplied to the first heating member is a first electric power while the first sheet passes through a nip, and in a case that the first sheet is the first recording material and the second sheet is the second recording material, the electric power is a second electric power smaller than the first electric power while the first sheet passes through the nip.
