INK JET RECORDING METHOD AND INK JET RECORDING APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240182741 titled 'INK JET RECORDING METHOD AND INK JET RECORDING APPARATUS

Simplified Explanation

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes an ink jet recording method using an aqueous ink and reaction liquid to record images on a medium. The ink contains a pigment dispersed by a carboxylic acid group, resin particle, and organic solvent. The method controls the particle size increase of the pigment when in contact with the reaction liquid.

Questions about Ink Jet Recording Method

How does the carboxylic acid group affect pigment dispersion in the ink?

The carboxylic acid group helps disperse the pigment in the ink, ensuring uniform color distribution and print quality.

What is the significance of controlling the particle size increase of the pigment in contact with the reaction liquid?

Controlling the particle size increase ensures consistent print quality and prevents clogging or other printing issues.

Original Abstract Submitted

there is provided an ink jet recording method for recording an image on a recording medium with an aqueous ink and an aqueous reaction liquid containing a reactant that reacts with the aqueous ink. the aqueous ink contains a pigment dispersed by the action of a carboxylic acid group, a resin particle and a water-soluble organic solvent. the rate of increase in the particle size of the pigment dispersed by the action of the carboxylic acid group when the pigment comes into contact with the aqueous reaction liquid is 8.0 times or more. the amount of water absorbed by the recording medium from the start of contact to 30 msecin a bristow method is 10 ml/mor less.
