INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS, INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD, AND STORAGE MEDIUM - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240163544 titled 'INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS, INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD, AND STORAGE MEDIUM

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes an information processing apparatus that can control the angle of view without losing track of a subject. Here is a simplified explanation of the abstract:

  • Detection unit detects a target in an image.
  • Setting unit defines regions in the image.
  • Determining unit checks if the target exits a specific region.
  • Control unit adjusts the image capturing range based on the exit determination.

Potential Applications

This technology could be used in:

  • Surveillance systems
  • Autonomous vehicles
  • Robotics

Problems Solved

This technology helps in:

  • Keeping track of subjects in view
  • Enhancing image capturing efficiency

Benefits

The benefits of this technology include:

  • Improved tracking capabilities
  • Enhanced control over image capturing

Potential Commercial Applications

The technology could be applied in:

  • Security systems
  • Traffic monitoring
  • Industrial automation

Possible Prior Art

One possible prior art could be:

  • Object tracking systems in surveillance cameras

Unanswered Questions

How does this technology handle multiple targets in the image?

The patent application does not specify how the apparatus deals with multiple targets simultaneously.

What is the processing speed of the apparatus?

The speed at which the apparatus can detect and adjust the image capturing range is not mentioned in the abstract.

Original Abstract Submitted

in order to be able to perform angle of view control without a tracking subject being lost from view, an information processing apparatus has a detection unit configured to detect a predetermined target from an image that has been captured by an image capturing unit, a setting unit configured to set a predetermined region and an exit determination region that is smaller than the predetermined region in relation to the image, a determining unit configured to perform exit determinations based on whether or not the target has exited from the exit determination region, and a control unit configured to control an image capturing range of the image capturing unit according to results that have been determined by the determining unit.
