INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS, CONTROL METHOD THEREOF, AND MEDIUM AND PRINTING SYSTEM THEREOF - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240118847 titled 'INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS, CONTROL METHOD THEREOF, AND MEDIUM AND PRINTING SYSTEM THEREOF

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes an information processing apparatus that configures a virtual printer associated with one or more image forming apparatuses. The apparatus manages capability information for each image forming apparatus, determines if a received print job is conditional, references capability information to select an image forming apparatus that meets the conditions, and transmits the print job to the selected apparatus.

  • Explanation of the patent/innovation:

- Information processing apparatus configures virtual printer for image forming apparatuses - Manages capability information for each image forming apparatus - Determines if print job is conditional - Selects image forming apparatus based on conditions - Transmits print job to selected apparatus

Potential applications of this technology: - Print job optimization - Efficient resource allocation in printing environments - Enhanced print job management and routing

Problems solved by this technology: - Streamlining print job processing - Improving efficiency in printing operations - Enhancing control over print job execution

Benefits of this technology: - Increased productivity in printing tasks - Reduced printing costs through optimized resource utilization - Improved overall printing workflow management

Potential commercial applications of this technology: - Print service providers - Office printing environments - Managed print services companies

Possible prior art: - Print job management systems - Virtual printer configurations - Conditional print job processing systems

Unanswered questions: 1. How does the apparatus determine the specific conditions that need to be met for a print job to be considered conditional? 2. Are there any limitations to the number of image forming apparatuses that can be associated with the virtual printer in this system?

Original Abstract Submitted

an information processing apparatus configures a virtual printer associated with one or a plurality of image forming apparatuses, manages capability information indicating a capability of each of the one or a plurality of image forming apparatuses associated with the virtual printer, determines, when a print job for the virtual printer is received, whether or not the print job is a conditional print job to be executed by an image forming apparatus that satisfies a predetermined condition, references, in a case where the print job is determined to be the conditional print job, the capability information and specifies an image forming apparatus that satisfies the predetermined condition from among the one or a plurality of image forming apparatuses, and transmits the conditional print job to an image forming apparatus that satisfies the predetermined condition.
