Restricting Display Area of Applications - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240320902 titled 'Restricting Display Area of Applications

The patent application describes devices, systems, and methods for designating a bounded volumetric region for displaying content in applications.

  • Devices may include a display, processors, and memory.
  • The device can detect a request from a second application to display content in a specific region while already displaying content from a first application.
  • The device can determine if the second region obstructs the field of view of the first region.
  • Based on the characteristics of the applications and the regions, the device may allow or deny the request to display content in the second region.
    • Potential Applications:**

- This technology could be used in multi-tasking environments where multiple applications need to display content simultaneously. - It could be beneficial in augmented reality or virtual reality applications where different content needs to be displayed in specific regions.

    • Problems Solved:**

- Helps in managing and organizing content display in applications. - Prevents obstruction of content in one region by content in another region.

    • Benefits:**

- Improved user experience in multitasking environments. - Enhanced organization and management of content display.

    • Commercial Applications:**

Title: Enhanced Content Display Management Technology This technology could be valuable in industries such as gaming, education, and design where multiple applications need to display content simultaneously. It could also be useful in virtual meetings and presentations.

    • Questions about the Technology:**

1. How does this technology improve user experience in multitasking environments?

  - This technology allows for better organization and management of content display, preventing obstruction and enhancing visibility.

2. What are the potential applications of this technology in augmented reality environments?

  - This technology can be used to designate specific regions for displaying different types of content in augmented reality applications, improving the overall user experience.

Original Abstract Submitted

various implementations disclosed herein include devices, systems, and methods for designating a bounded volumetric region in which an application can display content. in some implementations, a device includes a display, one or more processors, and a memory. while displaying first content associated with a first application within a first bounded region, the device detects a request from a second application to display second content in a second bounded region. if the first application has a first characteristic, the device determines whether the second bounded region obstructs a field of view of the first bounded region from the device. if the second bounded region obstructs the field of view of the first bounded region, the device determines whether to deny the request to display the second content in the second bounded region.
