CURSOR TRANSPORT - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240241615 titled 'CURSOR TRANSPORT

The patent application describes devices, systems, and methods for transporting a cursor between surfaces of objects within an XR (extended reality) environment.

  • Displaying movement of a cursor across a surface of an object in a 3D environment.
  • Determining when the cursor approaches or intersects a boundary of the surface.
  • Identifying a second position on a different surface of another object based on the cursor's path.
  • Moving the cursor from the first position to the second position.

Potential Applications: - Virtual reality gaming - Industrial design and modeling - Architectural visualization - Medical simulations - Educational tools

Problems Solved: - Enhancing user interaction in XR environments - Improving navigation and manipulation of objects in virtual spaces - Enhancing the overall user experience in immersive environments

Benefits: - Seamless cursor movement between objects - Enhanced spatial awareness and interaction - Improved efficiency in navigating virtual environments - Enhanced user engagement and immersion

Commercial Applications: Title: "Enhancing User Interaction in XR Environments: Commercial Applications of Cursor Transport Technology" This technology can be utilized in various industries such as gaming, design, healthcare, education, and more to enhance user experiences and improve productivity in virtual environments.

Questions about Cursor Transport Technology: 1. How does this technology improve user interaction in XR environments? 2. What are the potential implications of this technology for virtual reality gaming experiences?

Original Abstract Submitted

various implementations disclosed herein include devices, systems, and methods that transport a cursor between surfaces of objects within an xr environment. for example, an example process may include displaying a movement of a cursor across a first surface of a first object in a view of a three-dimensional (3d) environment. the process may further include determining that movement of the cursor approaches or intersects a boundary of the first surface at a first position. the process may further include determining a second position on a second surface of a second object in the 3d environment based on a path of the cursor. the process may further include moving the cursor from the first position to the second position.
