Carrier Specific Scaling Factor for Deactivated PSCell - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240187201 titled 'Carrier Specific Scaling Factor for Deactivated PSCell

Simplified Explanation

The patent application describes a user equipment (UE) that can connect to multiple cells and component carriers simultaneously, applying specific scaling factors to measurement periods for each.

  • The UE is configured to connect to a primary cell (pcell) with a primary component carrier (pcc), a primary secondary cell (pscell) with a primary secondary component carrier (pscc), and at least one secondary cell (scell) with a secondary component carrier (scc).
  • The UE receives a radio resource management (RRM) measurement configuration including configurations for the pcc, pscc, and scc measurement objects (MOs), and determines and applies carrier specific scaling factors to the measurement periods for each MO.

Original Abstract Submitted

a user equipment (ue) is configured to simultaneously connect to a primary cell (pcell) serving a primary component carrier (pcc), a primary secondary cell (pscell) serving a primary secondary component carrier (pscc) and at least one secondary cell (scell) serving a secondary component carrier (scc), wherein the pscell is in a deactivated state. the ue receives a radio resource management (rrm) measurement configuration comprising a pcc measurement object (mo) configuration, a pscc mo configuration, and an scc mo configuration, determines a pcc mo carrier specific scaling factor (cssf), a pscc mo cssf, and an scc mo cssf and applies each respective cssf to a measurement period corresponding to each of the pcc mo, the pscc mo, and the scc mo.
