This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240379101 titled 'PROVIDING NOTIFICATIONS WITH A DIGITAL ASSISTANT

The abstract describes systems and methods for providing notifications based on device connectivity to an audio device.

  • Detecting an event on a first device
  • Checking if the first device is connected to an audio device
  • Providing audio output on the first device if connected
  • Checking if a second device is connected to the audio device if the first device is not connected
  • Providing audio output on the second device if connected
  • Skipping audio output if neither device is connected

Potential Applications: - Smart home automation systems - Personalized notifications in a multi-device environment - Enhanced user experience in audio notifications

Problems Solved: - Ensuring notifications are delivered to the appropriate device - Streamlining audio output based on device connectivity - Improving user interaction with notifications

Benefits: - Efficient delivery of notifications - Seamless transition of audio output between devices - Enhanced user experience with personalized notifications

Commercial Applications: Title: "Multi-Device Notification System for Enhanced User Experience" This technology can be used in smart home devices, mobile applications, and audio systems to provide a seamless notification experience for users, enhancing overall user satisfaction and engagement.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does this technology improve user interaction with notifications? 2. What are the potential challenges in implementing this system across different devices and platforms?

Original Abstract Submitted

systems and methods for providing notifications are provided. an example method includes, at a first device, detecting an event; in response to detecting the event, determining whether the first electronic device is actively connected to an audio device; in accordance with a determination that the first device is actively connected to the audio device, providing an audio output corresponding to the event; and in accordance with a determination that the first device is not actively connected to the audio device: determining whether a second device is actively connected to the audio device; in accordance with a determination that the second device is actively connected to the audio device, causing the second device to provide the audio output; and in accordance with a determination that the second device is not actively connected to the audio device, forgoing causing the second device to provide the audio output.
