Patent Applications by Amazon Technologies, Inc.

20240312454. NOISE CANCELLATION FOR OPEN MICROPHONE MODE_simplified_abstract_(amazon technologies, inc.)

Inventor(s): Ty Loren Carlson of Redmond WA (US) for amazon technologies, inc., Rohan Mutagi of Redmond WA (US) for amazon technologies, inc.

IPC Code(s): G10L15/20, G10L15/22, G10L15/26, G10L17/00, G10L21/0208, G10L21/0272, G10L25/78, G10L25/84

CPC Code(s): G10L15/20

Abstract: a system has multiple audio-enabled devices that communicate with one another over an open microphone mode of communication. when a user says a trigger word, the nearest device validates the trigger word and opens a communication channel with another device. as the user talks, the device receives the speech and generates an audio signal representation that includes the user speech and may additionally include other background or interfering sound from the environment. the device transmits the audio signal to the other device as part of a conversation, while continually analyzing the audio signal to detect when the user stops talking. this analysis may include watching for a lack of speech in the audio signal for a period of time, or an abrupt change in context of the speech (indicating the speech is from another source), or canceling noise or other interfering sound to isolate whether the user is still speaking. once the device confirms that the user has stopped talking, the device transitions from a transmission mode to a reception mode to await a reply in the conversation.

20240314134. ANALYSIS OF ROLE REACHABILITY WITH TRANSITIVE TAGS_simplified_abstract_(amazon technologies, inc.)

Inventor(s): John Byron Cook of Brooklyn NY (US) for amazon technologies, inc., Neha Rungta of San Jose CA (US) for amazon technologies, inc., Carsten Varming of Brooklyn NY (US) for amazon technologies, inc., Daniel George Peebles of Richland WA (US) for amazon technologies, inc., Daniel Kroening of Oxford (GB) for amazon technologies, inc., Alejandro Naser Pastoriza of Madrid (ES) for amazon technologies, inc.

IPC Code(s): H04L9/40, H04L41/0604, H04L41/22

CPC Code(s): H04L63/101

Abstract: methods, systems, and computer-readable media for analysis of role reachability with transitive tags are disclosed. an access control analyzer determines a graph including nodes and edges. the nodes represent roles in a provider network hosting resources. the roles are associated with access control policies granting or denying access to individual resources. one or more of the access control policies grant or deny access based (at least in part) on key-value attributes. the access control analyzer determines, based (at least in part) on a role reachability analysis of the graph, whether a first role can assume a second role using role assumption steps for a particular state of the attributes. the attributes may include transitive attributes that persist during the role assumption steps.

20240314187. MANAGING ENCODER UPDATES_simplified_abstract_(amazon technologies, inc.)

Inventor(s): Eric Woodruff of Beaverton OR (US) for amazon technologies, inc., Ryan Paul Hegar of Happy Valley OR (US) for amazon technologies, inc., Khawaja Salman Shams of Portland OR (US) for amazon technologies, inc.

IPC Code(s): H04L65/70, H04L7/00, H04L67/02, H04L67/148, H04N21/4402, H04N21/8547

CPC Code(s): H04L65/70

Abstract: a video packaging and origination service can include one or more encoder components that receive content for encoding and transmitting to requesting entities. during the operation of the encoder components, a management service associated with the video packaging and origination service can receive information related to updates or modifications to the encoder components. responsive to the information, the management service can instantiate and configure an updated encoder. once the updated encoder component is instantiated and configured, both the updated and target encoder components receive content for streaming, encode content and generating encoding content. additionally, the updated encoder component can initiate a notification to the target encoder component that a handover will be occurring and begin a negotiation process identifying a handover event. based on the negotiated handover event, the target encoder component can illustratively cease operation upon evaluation and detection of the handover event.

20240314619. DYNAMIC SPECTRUM MANAGEMENT FOR PORTABLE RADIO-BASED NETWORKS_simplified_abstract_(amazon technologies, inc.)

Inventor(s): Frank Paterra of Oakton VA (US) for amazon technologies, inc.

IPC Code(s): H04W28/02, H04W64/00, H04W72/0453, H04W72/121

CPC Code(s): H04W28/0226

Abstract: disclosed are various embodiments for dynamic spectrum management for portable radio-based networks. in one embodiment, it is determined that a portable radio unit implementing a cell of a radio-based network has moved away from a reference location associated with a first spectrum allocation used by the portable radio unit. a second spectrum allocation for the portable radio unit is obtained based at least in part on a direction of movement of the portable radio unit. the portable radio unit is then configured to use the second spectrum allocation instead of the first spectrum allocation.

20240314620. MOBILITY OF CLOUD COMPUTE INSTANCES HOSTED WITHIN COMMUNICATIONS SERVICE PROVIDER NETWORKS_simplified_abstract_(amazon technologies, inc.)

Inventor(s): Ishwardutt PARULKAR of San Francisco CA (US) for amazon technologies, inc., Diwakar GUPTA of Seattle WA (US) for amazon technologies, inc., Georgios ELISSAIOS of Seattle WA (US) for amazon technologies, inc.

IPC Code(s): H04W28/02, H04L41/147, H04L43/0852, H04L43/16, H04L67/148, H04W4/029

CPC Code(s): H04W28/0226

Abstract: techniques for managing latency of communications between compute instances and mobile devices are described. a message including an indication of a mobility event associated with a mobile device of a communications service provider network is received. the mobility event indicates a change in a connection point of the mobile device to the communications service provider network from a from a first access point to a second access point. a communications delay of at least a portion of a network path between the mobile device and a compute instance via the second access point is determined to not satisfy a latency constraint. an edge location of the cloud provider network that satisfies the latency constraint for communications with the mobile device via the second access point is identified, and a message is sent to the edge location to cause the launch of another compute instance.
