CUTTING INSERT - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 20240016341 titled 'CUTTING INSERT
Simplified Explanation
The present subject matter is about a cutting insert designed to fit in the lid of a traditional food container. The cutting insert has an upward facing surface and a downward facing surface, with a thickness in between and a perimeter that extends between them. The thickness of the cutting insert is such that its upward facing surface is raised above the rims of the lid, allowing easy cutting of food placed on it. The cutting insert provides a raised, flat surface for placing and cutting food, while still allowing the lid to be securely attached to the container. This enables food to be stored inside the container even when it is in an upside-down position.
- The cutting insert is designed to fit in the lid of a traditional food container.
- It has an upward facing surface and a downward facing surface with a thickness in between.
- The upward facing surface is raised above the rims of the lid, allowing easy cutting of food placed on it.
- The cutting insert does not prevent the lid from being securely attached to the container.
- Food can be stored inside the container even when it is in an upside-down position.
Potential Applications:
- This cutting insert can be used in various food containers to provide a convenient surface for cutting food.
- It can be used in household kitchens, restaurants, and other food preparation settings.
Problems Solved:
- The cutting insert solves the problem of having to use separate cutting boards or surfaces when preparing food in a food container.
- It eliminates the need for transferring food from the container to a cutting board, saving time and reducing the risk of cross-contamination.
Benefits:
- The cutting insert provides a raised, flat surface for cutting food, making it easier and more convenient for users.
- It allows food to be stored inside the container even when it is in an upside-down position, ensuring better preservation and preventing spills.
- The cutting insert is designed to fit in the lid without hindering its attachment to the container, maintaining the functionality of the food container.
Original Abstract Submitted
the presently disclosed subject matter relates to a cutting insert designed to fit in a traditional food container, specifically the food container's lid. the cutting insert comprises an upward facing surface and downward facing surface. the upward facing surface and downward facing surface define a thickness therebetween and a perimeter that extends between them. the thickness of the cutting insert is designed so that its upward facing surface, on which food may be placed, is raised above the rims of the lid in which it is placed, thus enabling a user to easily cut food placed on the cutting insert. thus, the cutting insert provides a raised, substantially planar, surface usable for placing food, and cutting, on it. additionally, the cutting insert when positioned inside the lid, does not prevent a user from releasably securing the lid to the food container's body, and thereby storing food placed on the cutting insert inside the food container, while the food container is maintained in an upside-down position.
