Handling Multi-TRP Transmissions - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18748435 titled 'Handling Multi-TRP Transmissions
The abstract describes a patent application for a user equipment (UE) configured with multi-transmission and reception point (multi-TRP) operation in a 5G new radio (NR) wireless network.
- The UE groups capabilities of handling two overlapping physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) transmissions into multiple groups.
- It determines the UE's capability of handling two overlapping PDSCH transmissions based on these groups and transmits this capability to a next generation nodeB (gNB).
- The UE also checks for collisions between demodulation reference signals (DMRS) of PDSCH transmissions and cell-specific reference signals (CRS) of LTE transmissions.
- It verifies if the CRS originated from the same multi-TRP as the DMRS.
Potential Applications: - Enhancing the efficiency and capacity of wireless networks. - Improving the performance of user equipment in handling multiple transmissions. - Facilitating seamless communication in mixed LTE and 5G environments.
Problems Solved: - Managing overlapping transmissions effectively. - Ensuring compatibility between LTE and 5G technologies. - Optimizing resource allocation in wireless networks.
Benefits: - Increased data throughput and network reliability. - Enhanced user experience with better signal quality. - Simplified coexistence of LTE and 5G technologies.
Commercial Applications: Title: "Enhanced Multi-TRP Operation for 5G NR Wireless Networks" This technology can be utilized in telecommunications companies, network equipment manufacturers, and mobile device companies to improve network performance and user experience in 5G environments.
Questions about the technology: 1. How does this innovation impact the overall efficiency of wireless networks?
- This innovation enhances network efficiency by optimizing resource allocation and improving the handling of multiple transmissions.
2. What are the key advantages of having multi-TRP operation in a 5G NR wireless network?
- Multi-TRP operation allows for better management of overlapping transmissions and ensures seamless communication in mixed LTE and 5G environments.
Original Abstract Submitted
A user equipment (UE) is configured with multi-transmission and reception point (multi-TRP) operation. The UE groups capabilities of handling two overlapping physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) transmissions into a plurality of groups, determining a UE capability of handling two overlapping PDSCH transmissions based on the plurality of groups and transmits the UE capability to a next generation nodeB (gNB) of a 5G new radio (NR) wireless network. The UE also determines if a demodulation reference signal (DMRS) of a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH) transmission collides with a cell-specific reference signal (CRS) of a long term evolution (LTE) transmission and determines if the CRS originated from a same multi-transmission/reception point (TRP) as the DMRS.
