LEANING VEHICLE - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18748054 titled 'LEANING VEHICLE
Simplified Explanation:
The patent application describes a leaning vehicle with a leaning actuator that changes the lean angle of the vehicle body when turning, a steering actuator that adjusts the steered angle of the front wheels during turns, and a control device that manages these actuators. The control device creates an imbalanced turning state and reduces the leaning force when lateral acceleration decreases.
- Leaning vehicle with leaning actuator for changing lean angle during turns
- Steering actuator adjusts steered angle of front wheels during turns
- Control device manages leaning and steering actuators
- Creates imbalanced turning state for improved maneuverability
- Reduces leaning force when lateral acceleration decreases
Potential Applications: The technology could be applied in the development of advanced motorcycles, bicycles, or other leaning vehicles for enhanced stability and control during turns. It could also be utilized in autonomous vehicles to improve cornering performance and overall safety.
Problems Solved: The technology addresses the challenge of maintaining stability and control in leaning vehicles during turns, especially in situations where lateral acceleration varies. By adjusting the leaning force and steering angle, the system ensures a smoother and more controlled driving experience.
Benefits: - Improved stability and control during turns - Enhanced maneuverability and cornering performance - Increased safety for riders and drivers - Potential for application in autonomous vehicles for advanced driving capabilities
Commercial Applications: Title: Advanced Leaning Vehicle Technology for Enhanced Stability and Control This technology could be commercialized in the automotive industry for the development of high-performance motorcycles, bicycles, and other leaning vehicles. It could also be integrated into autonomous vehicle systems to enhance their driving capabilities and safety features, appealing to both recreational and commercial markets.
Questions about Leaning Vehicle Technology: 1. How does the leaning actuator improve stability in leaning vehicles? 2. What are the potential safety implications of using this technology in autonomous vehicles?
Original Abstract Submitted
A leaning vehicle comprising: a leaning actuator that generates a leaning drive force for changing a lean angle of a vehicle body when the leaning vehicle turns; a steering actuator that changes a steered angle of two front wheels when the leaning vehicle turns; and a control device that controls the leaning actuator and the steering actuator. The control device controls the leaning actuator and the steering actuator to create the imbalanced turning state, and, when a magnitude of a lateral acceleration acting on the vehicle body in the imbalanced turning state has decreased, control the leaning actuator to reduce the leaning drive force.
