SEWING MACHINE - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18745463 titled 'SEWING MACHINE

The abstract describes a patent application for a sewing machine controller that can sew both utility patterns and tapering patterns continuously in different directions.

  • The controller acquires sewing data for the utility pattern in one direction and a condition for sewing the tapering pattern with a tapering portion.
  • It generates a projection image of the tapering pattern based on the sewing data and condition.
  • The controller then controls the needle bar, feed dog, and actuator to sew the utility pattern first and then seamlessly transition to sewing the tapering pattern.
  • After starting the sewing of the utility pattern, the controller projects the image of the tapering pattern at the planned sewing position and size.
  • It then continues sewing the tapering pattern by controlling the needle bar, feed dog, and actuator according to the sewing data and condition.

Potential Applications: - This technology can be used in the textile industry for creating intricate and seamless patterns on fabrics. - It can also be applied in the fashion industry for designing unique clothing pieces with varying patterns.

Problems Solved: - This innovation solves the challenge of transitioning between different sewing patterns seamlessly and accurately. - It streamlines the process of creating complex designs on fabrics without manual intervention.

Benefits: - Improved efficiency in sewing different patterns on fabrics. - Enhanced precision and accuracy in creating tapering patterns. - Increased versatility in design options for textile and fashion industries.

Commercial Applications: - This technology can be utilized by textile manufacturers, fashion designers, and sewing enthusiasts looking to create intricate and seamless patterns on fabrics.

Questions about the Technology: 1. How does the controller ensure a smooth transition between sewing the utility pattern and the tapering pattern? 2. What are the potential cost savings for businesses using this innovative sewing machine controller?

Original Abstract Submitted

A controller of a sewing machine acquires sewing data for forming a utility pattern continuously in a first direction, acquires a condition for sewing a tapering pattern including a tapering portion, generates a projection image representing the tapering pattern based on the sewing data and the condition, controls a needle bar, a feed dog, and an actuator in accordance with the sewing data to sew the utility pattern continuously in the first direction, after starting sewing of the utility pattern, controls a projector to project the projection image at a planned sewing position of the tapering pattern in a planned sewing size, and performs a tapering pattern sewing operation of, after starting projection of the projection image, controlling the needle bar, the feed dog, and the actuator in accordance with the sewing data and the condition to sew the tapering pattern that is continuous with the utility pattern.
