SENSOR - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18737185 titled 'SENSOR

The magnetic sensor described in the abstract includes an insulating layer with a flat portion and a protruding portion, along with a first MR element and a second MR element. The protruding portion features first and second inclined surfaces, with the first MR element placed on the first inclined surface and the second MR element on the second inclined surface. The protruding portion extends parallel to the top surface of a substrate in a first direction and includes multiple recess portions at one end.

  • Insulating layer with flat and protruding portions
  • First and second MR elements
  • Protruding portion with inclined surfaces
  • Recess portions at the end of the protruding portion
  • Sensors extend parallel to substrate surface

Questions about Magnetic Sensor Technology: 1. How does the protruding portion of the insulating layer enhance sensor performance? The protruding portion allows for precise placement of the MR elements, improving sensitivity and accuracy in magnetic field detection.

2. What are the key advantages of using multiple MR elements in a magnetic sensor? Having multiple MR elements increases the sensor's ability to detect and measure magnetic fields with higher precision and reliability.

Original Abstract Submitted

A magnetic sensor includes an insulating layer including a flat portion and a protruding portion, a first MR element, and a second MR element. The protruding portion includes a first inclined surface and a second inclined surface. The first MR element is disposed on the first inclined surface. The second MR element is disposed on the second inclined surface. The protruding portion extends in a first direction parallel to a top surface of a substrate, and includes a plurality of recess portions each recessed in a direction parallel to the top surface of the substrate at an end of the protruding portion in the first direction.
