MEDICAL OBSERVATION SYSTEM, INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS, AND INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18681549 titled 'MEDICAL OBSERVATION SYSTEM, INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS, AND INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD

The abstract describes a medical observation system that includes an imaging unit, a display unit, a gaze information acquisition unit, a target candidate recognition unit, a reliability acquisition unit, and a target determination unit.

  • The imaging unit acquires an operative field image, including an abdominal cavity environment.
  • The display unit shows the operative field image to the user.
  • The gaze information acquisition unit collects data on the user's focus on the abdominal cavity environment.
  • The target candidate recognition unit identifies a tracking target candidate in the operative field image.
  • The reliability acquisition unit assesses the recognition reliability of the tracking target candidate.
  • The target determination unit decides on a tracking target in the abdominal cavity environment based on the information gathered.

Potential Applications: - Surgical procedures - Medical training and education - Research in abdominal cavity conditions

Problems Solved: - Enhances visualization of the abdominal cavity during medical procedures - Improves accuracy in tracking targets within the operative field image

Benefits: - Increased precision in medical interventions - Enhanced understanding of abdominal cavity anatomy - Improved training outcomes for medical professionals

Commercial Applications: Title: "Advanced Medical Observation System for Enhanced Surgical Procedures" This technology can be utilized in hospitals, medical training facilities, and research institutions to improve surgical outcomes, enhance medical education, and advance research in abdominal cavity conditions.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the system improve the accuracy of tracking targets in the abdominal cavity environment? 2. What are the potential implications of using this technology in medical training programs?

Original Abstract Submitted

A medical observation system includes: an imaging unit that acquires an operative field image including an abdominal cavity environment; a display unit that displays the operative field image acquired by the imaging unit; a gaze information acquisition unit that acquires information regarding gaze of a user on the abdominal cavity environment of the operative field image displayed by the display unit; a target candidate recognition unit that recognizes a tracking target candidate from the operative field image acquired by the imaging unit; a reliability acquisition unit that acquires recognition reliability of the tracking target candidate recognized by the target candidate recognition unit; and a target determination unit that determines a tracking target in the abdominal cavity environment from the tracking target candidate on the basis of the information regarding the tracking target candidate, the recognition reliability, and the information regarding the gaze.
