An electric work vehicle includes a battery in a machine body, an inverter to convert DC power output from the battery to AC power, a motor drivable by the AC power converted by the inverter, a rotational speed detector to obtain rotational speed information indicative of a rotational speed of the motor, a travel device drivable by the motor, an operator to change a required rotational speed required for the motor, and a controller configured or programmed to control a current flowing through the motor by operating the inverter in accordance with the rotational speed information and the required rotational speed. When a load applied to the motor is higher than a load set in advance, the controller is configured or programmed to stop driving the motor irrespective of the required rotational speed.
