PADDING CACHED DATA WITH VALID DATA FOR MEMORY FLUSH COMMANDS - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18672645 titled 'PADDING CACHED DATA WITH VALID DATA FOR MEMORY FLUSH COMMANDS
Simplified Explanation:
The patent application describes a victim management unit (MU) used for media management operations. The MU stores valid data and compares a valid-to-invalid ratio to determine whether to pad cached data with valid data or dummy data before writing it to a target MU.
- The victim management unit (MU) stores valid data in one memory device.
- It compares the valid-to-invalid ratio to a threshold value.
- Based on the comparison, it decides whether to pad cached data with valid data or dummy data.
- The padded cached data is then written to a target MU.
Key Features and Innovation:
- Victim management unit (MU) for media management operations.
- Comparison of valid-to-invalid ratio to determine padding of cached data.
- Efficient utilization of valid data for media management.
Potential Applications:
- Media content management systems.
- Data storage and retrieval systems.
- Information processing applications.
Problems Solved:
- Efficient management of cached data.
- Optimal utilization of valid data.
- Improved performance of media management operations.
Benefits:
- Enhanced data storage efficiency.
- Improved system performance.
- Streamlined media management processes.
Commercial Applications:
Title: Enhanced Media Management System for Efficient Data Handling This technology can be applied in various industries such as:
- Media and entertainment
- Information technology
- Data storage and management
Questions about the Technology:
1. How does the victim management unit optimize the storage of valid data in media management operations?
- The victim management unit compares the valid-to-invalid ratio to determine whether to pad cached data with valid data or dummy data, ensuring efficient utilization of resources.
2. What are the potential benefits of using the victim management unit in media content management systems?
- The victim management unit can improve data storage efficiency, system performance, and streamline media management processes in various applications.
Original Abstract Submitted
A victim management unit (MU) for performing a media management operation is identified. The victim MU stores valid data in a first memory device of a plurality of memory devices. A cached data item on a second memory device of the plurality of memory devices is identified. A valid-to-invalid ratio of the victim MU is compared to a threshold value. In view of comparison, it is determined whether to pad the cached data item with at least a subset of the valid data stored at the victim MU or dummy data. Based on the determination, the cached data item padded with one of at least a subset of the valid data stored at the victim MU or the dummy data is written to a target MU.
