Secondary Cell Activation and Change Procedures - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18669258 titled 'Secondary Cell Activation and Change Procedures

The abstract discusses apparatuses, systems, and methods for adding a secondary cell group (SCG) in wireless communication networks.

  • Wireless devices can communicate with a first base station in a master cell group (MCG) and receive signaling to configure a second base station in a secondary cell group (SCG).
  • The wireless device can establish communication with the second base station based on the signaling received from the first base station.
  • Initially, the wireless device may deactivate the second base station based on the signaling received, and later activate it to communicate with both the first and second base stations.

Potential Applications: - This technology can be applied in enhancing the efficiency and capacity of wireless communication networks. - It can improve network coverage and reliability in areas with high user density or signal interference.

Problems Solved: - Addressing the need for seamless handover and efficient utilization of resources in wireless networks. - Enhancing network performance and user experience by optimizing cell configurations.

Benefits: - Improved network reliability and coverage. - Enhanced user experience with seamless handover between base stations. - Efficient resource allocation leading to better network performance.

Commercial Applications: Title: Enhanced Wireless Network Optimization Technology This technology can be utilized by telecommunications companies to improve the quality of service for their customers, leading to increased customer satisfaction and retention. It can also benefit network equipment manufacturers by providing innovative solutions to enhance network performance.

Original Abstract Submitted

Aspects are presented herein of apparatuses, systems, and methods for secondary cell group (SCG) addition. A wireless device may establish communication with a first base station that is comprised in a master cell group (MCG). The wireless device may receive signaling from the first base station configuring a second base station in a secondary cell group (SCG). The wireless device may establish communication with the second base station based on the signaling received from the first base station. At a first time, the wireless device may set the second base station in a deactivated state based on the signaling from the first base station configuring the second base station or establishing communication with the second base station. At a later time, the wireless device may set the second base station in an activated state and communicate with the first base station and the second base station.
