Augmented Reality Based Geolocalization of Images - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18669004 titled 'Augmented Reality Based Geolocalization of Images

The patent application describes a method for determining a location with an unobstructed view of a target location by capturing an image of the environment, accessing target location data, and providing guidance to the user to relocate the user device to the suitable location.

  • Capturing an image of an environment containing a target location
  • Accessing target location data with information about the environment and target location
  • Determining a suitable location for the user device based on spatial relationships and criteria
  • Providing guided human-machine interaction to assist the user in relocating the device
  • Ensuring an unobstructed view of the target location within the field of view of the user device

Potential Applications: - Tourism and sightseeing applications - Navigation and mapping services - Augmented reality gaming experiences - Real estate and property viewing

Problems Solved: - Finding optimal viewing locations in crowded or obstructed environments - Enhancing user experience in exploring new locations - Improving navigation accuracy and efficiency

Benefits: - Enhanced user experience and satisfaction - Increased convenience in locating desired viewpoints - Improved accuracy in determining optimal viewing locations

Commercial Applications: Title: "Enhanced Location Viewing Technology for Tourism and Navigation" This technology can be utilized in tourism apps, navigation services, real estate platforms, and augmented reality gaming applications. It can enhance user engagement, improve navigation accuracy, and provide unique experiences for users.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does this technology improve user experience in exploring new locations? 2. What criteria are considered when determining a suitable location for the user device?

Original Abstract Submitted

A method for determining a location at which an unobstructed view of a target location is obtained, includes capturing an image of an environment which includes a target location; accessing target location data, wherein the target location data comprises information associated with the environment and the target location; determining, based on the target location data and a spatial relationship between the target location and one or more objects in the image which obstruct a view of the target location, at least one suitable location of a user device from which an unobstructed view of the target location is within a field of view of the user device and satisfies one or more criteria; and providing a guided human-machine interaction process to assist a user associated with the user device in re-locating the user device to the at least one suitable location.
