COMMUNICATION METHOD AND APPARATUS - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18665749 titled 'COMMUNICATION METHOD AND APPARATUS

The abstract describes a communication method and apparatus where a terminal device or access network device infers a channel feature using a channel feature extraction model.

  • The terminal device or access network device sends the channel feature to a Location Management Function (LMF).
  • The LMF obtains positioning information of the terminal device based on the channel feature using a positioning information obtaining model.
  • An artificial intelligence model may be used to assist in implementing positioning of the terminal device.
  • The LMF may determine the location information of the terminal device based on the positioning information.

Potential Applications: - Location-based services - Asset tracking - Emergency services

Problems Solved: - Efficient channel feature extraction - Accurate positioning of terminal devices - Enhanced communication capabilities

Benefits: - Improved location accuracy - Enhanced network management - Better resource allocation

Commercial Applications: Title: Enhanced Location-Based Services for Improved Customer Experience This technology can be used in industries such as telecommunications, logistics, and public safety to provide accurate location information for various applications.

Questions about the technology: 1. How does the artificial intelligence model assist in implementing the positioning of the terminal device? 2. What are the key advantages of using a channel feature extraction model in communication systems?

Original Abstract Submitted

A communication method and an apparatus. A terminal device (or an access network device) obtains a channel feature through inference by using a channel feature extraction model, where the channel feature corresponds to a channel between the terminal device and the access network device. The terminal device (or the access network device) sends the channel feature to a location management function LMF. The LMF obtains, based on the channel feature, positioning information of the terminal device through inference by using a positioning information obtaining model. The LMF may determine location information of the terminal device based on the positioning information. An artificial intelligence model may be used to implement positioning or assist in implementing positioning of the terminal device.
