BATTERY - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18658352 titled 'BATTERY

The abstract describes a battery with a metal can, a tubular part with an opening edge and a bottom part, an electrode body inside the tubular part, and a sealing member bonded to the opening edge to seal it.

  • Metal battery can with tubular part and opening edge
  • Electrode body housed inside the tubular part
  • Sealing member with gasket, disk part, ring part, and intermediate member
  • Sealing member bonded to the opening edge of the battery can
  • Disk part crimped with the gasket part interposed between the center part and the disk part

Potential Applications: - This technology can be used in various battery-powered devices such as smartphones, laptops, and electric vehicles.

Problems Solved: - The sealing member ensures that the battery remains tightly sealed, preventing leakage of electrolytes and maintaining the integrity of the battery.

Benefits: - Improved safety and reliability of batteries - Enhanced performance and longevity of battery-powered devices

Commercial Applications: - This technology can have significant implications in the consumer electronics industry, automotive sector, and renewable energy storage systems.

Questions about the Battery Sealing Technology: 1. How does the sealing member contribute to the overall safety of the battery?

  - The sealing member prevents leakage of electrolytes, reducing the risk of malfunctions and accidents.

2. What are the key components of the sealing member and how do they work together to seal the battery effectively?

  - The sealing member consists of a gasket, disk part, ring part, and intermediate member, all of which work together to create a tight seal at the opening edge of the battery can.

Original Abstract Submitted

Provided is a battery including: a battery can made of metal and including a tubular part provided at one end with an opening edge part and a bottom part closing another end of the tubular part; an electrode body housed inside the tubular part; and a sealing member bonded to the opening edge part of the battery can to seal an opening of the opening edge part. The sealing member includes a gasket part, a disk part made of metal, a ring part with a center part in which the disk part is crimped with the gasket part interposed between the center part and the disk part, and an intermediate member bonded to an upper surface of the ring part.
