ORGANIC EL DISPLAY DEVICE - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18653566 titled 'ORGANIC EL DISPLAY DEVICE
The abstract describes an organic EL display device that can prevent a change in tint when white display is viewed from an oblique angle. This device includes an organic EL display element and a light absorption anisotropic layer made of a composition containing a liquid crystal compound and a dichroic substance.
- The light absorption anisotropic layer has an angle between its transmittance central axis and the normal line of the layer plane ranging from 0° to 450°.
- The thickness (A(λ)) of the light absorption anisotropic layer is 15 to 225 nm at the maximal absorption wavelength.
- The device aims to maintain color accuracy and prevent tint changes when viewing the display from different angles.
Potential Applications: - High-quality display screens for electronic devices - Automotive displays with improved visibility from various angles
Problems Solved: - Maintaining color accuracy in organic EL displays - Preventing tint changes when viewing displays from oblique angles
Benefits: - Enhanced visual experience for users - Improved color consistency in displays - Better visibility in different lighting conditions
Commercial Applications: Title: Advanced Organic EL Display Technology for Enhanced Color Accuracy This technology can be used in smartphones, tablets, TVs, and automotive displays to provide users with a superior viewing experience. It has the potential to revolutionize the display industry by offering improved color accuracy and visibility from various angles.
Questions about the technology: 1. How does the light absorption anisotropic layer prevent changes in tint when viewing the display from oblique angles? 2. What are the key advantages of using a liquid crystal compound and a dichroic substance in the composition of the light absorption anisotropic layer?
Original Abstract Submitted
An organic EL display device capable of suppressing a change in tint in a case where white display is visually recognized from an oblique direction. The organic EL display device includes an organic EL display element and a light absorption anisotropic layer, in which the light absorption anisotropic layer is a light absorption anisotropic layer formed of a composition containing a liquid crystal compound and a dichroic substance, an angle between a transmittance central axis of the light absorption anisotropic layer and a normal line of a layer plane of the light absorption anisotropic layer is 0° or more and 450 or less, and A(λ) of the light absorption anisotropic layer represented by Expression (1) A(λ)={kz(λ)−(kx(λ)+ky(λ))/2}×d, is 15 to 225 nm at a maximal absorption wavelength of the light absorption anisotropic layer.
