SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR FORCE OR TORQUE LIMIT COMPENSATION - A simplified explanation of the abstract
This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18650505 titled 'SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR FORCE OR TORQUE LIMIT COMPENSATION
The patent application describes techniques for force and torque limit compensation using a computer-assisted device.
- The drive unit of the device operates a degree of freedom of an instrument, while the control unit determines expected restraining or return to home force or torque.
- Based on the expected force or torque, the control unit calculates a force or torque limit compensation.
- The control unit then adjusts one or more force or torque limits based on the compensation, and the drive unit alters the degree of freedom accordingly.
Potential Applications: - Industrial automation - Robotics - Medical devices
Problems Solved: - Ensuring safe operation of instruments by limiting force and torque - Improving precision and accuracy in various applications
Benefits: - Enhanced safety in operation - Increased precision and accuracy - Customizable force and torque limits
Commercial Applications: Title: "Advanced Force and Torque Limit Compensation System for Industrial Automation" This technology can be used in manufacturing processes, assembly lines, and other industrial settings to improve safety and efficiency.
Questions about the technology: 1. How does this technology compare to traditional force and torque limiting systems? 2. What are the potential cost savings associated with implementing this technology in industrial automation?
Original Abstract Submitted
Techniques for force and torque limit compensation include a computer-assisted device including a drive unit configured to operate a degree of freedom of an instrument supported by the computer-assisted device and a control unit. The control unit is configured to determine an expected amount of restraining or return to home force or torque applied to the degree of freedom; determine a force or torque limit compensation based on the expected amount of restraining or return to home force or torque; alter one or more force or torque limits based on the force or torque limit compensation; and adjust, using the drive unit, the degree of freedom subject to the one or more altered force or torque limits.
