STORAGE DEVICE AND OPERATING METHOD THEREOF - A simplified explanation of the abstract

This abstract first appeared for US patent application 18646420 titled 'STORAGE DEVICE AND OPERATING METHOD THEREOF

The abstract describes a storage device with a memory controller and multiple memory devices, including a first memory device and an n-memory device connected in series, where n is greater than 1. The memory controller sends a signal with a target ID to select a memory device, and each memory device has memory dies, an interface to distribute the signal based on the target ID, and a redriver to transfer the signal to another memory device.

  • Memory device with memory controller and multiple memory devices
  • First memory device and n-memory device connected in series
  • Memory controller sends signal with target ID to select memory device
  • Each memory device has memory dies, interface, and redriver
  • Redriver transfers signal to another memory device

Potential Applications: - Data storage systems - Computer memory devices - Embedded systems

Problems Solved: - Efficient data storage and retrieval - Improved memory device connectivity - Enhanced data transfer speeds

Benefits: - Increased storage capacity - Faster data access - Enhanced system performance

Commercial Applications: Title: "Advanced Memory Storage Solutions for High-Performance Computing" This technology can be used in: - Servers and data centers - High-performance computing systems - Networking equipment

Questions about Memory Storage Solutions: 1. How does the memory controller select a specific memory device? The memory controller transmits a signal with a target ID to indicate the selected memory device.

2. What are the benefits of using a redriver in memory devices? Redrivers help to enhance signal transfer between memory devices, improving overall system performance.

Original Abstract Submitted

A storage device includes a memory controller and a plurality of memory devices. The plurality of memory devices comprise a first memory device coupled to the memory controller and an nmemory device coupled in series to the first memory device, where n is a natural number greater than 1. The memory controller is configured to transmit, to a first memory device, a signal that includes a target ID indicating a selected memory device from among the plurality of memory devices. Each memory device includes a plurality of memory dies, an interface configured to distribute the signal based on the target ID, and a redriver configured to redrive the signal such that the signal is transferred to another memory device.
